JamSchool Early Childhood Music Class Descriptions
Goal of Program:
To introduce children to music and movement in a fun and supportive environment.
Program Dates: September 2010 to June 2011
Guidelines:It will usually take your child a few classes to become comfortable with the routine and understand the expectations. Especially with little ones, we encourage the parents to be active in their child’s enjoyment of the classes by participating and helping to focus your child’s attention.
Class Descriptions:
Kids Music Class: Mixed ages Birth-5 (Mornings 9:30-10:05 ) Sept-June
Tuesday and Wednesday morning classes are mixed for new borns to age 5.
Toddler Jammers: (18mo-3yrs) The material in these fun songs centers around the common themes in your toddlers’ world: their bodies, abilities and imaginations. Children will be invited to take turns choosing animals & movements to sing about and ways to play our instruments.
Lil’ Jammers #1: (3 & 4 Year Olds)
This class is geared towards your young child’s developing imagination and growing independence. Solo singing and playing is encouraged as children begin to develop a musical vocabulary. Parents participate.
Lil’ Jammers #2: (5 & 6 Year Olds):This class is without parents. Children will develop a basic understanding of the building blocks of music: rhythm and melody. Children will learn to sing and play simple songs and play in ensemble.
Lil'Jammers #3: - (6-7 year olds) (Introduction to various instruments): This class is without parents. Children will continue to develop their understanding of music: rhythm and melody.
Children will continue to learn to sing and play more challenging songs. Children will experience various instruments through workshops to help determine what instrument/s to pursue in private instruction.
