Valerie Ayroso

Valerie has had music in her blood since she was 4 years old.  She was considering entering the engineering field in her university days, when she realized that music was her passion and reset all her applications to music.  Law school had also been a possible university choice, until again, the pull of music was too strong.  She completed her Bachelor of Music at Laurier University and soon thereafter completed her ARCT of Performance in piano through the Royal Conservatory of Music.  She obtained a position at Merriam School of Music where she thoroughly enjoyed her work as a group and private teacher, summer theatre camp leader, official examiner and an adjudicator.  Having realized that teaching was also her passion, she entered teachers’ college in the Fine Arts stream at York University.  Afterwards, she pursued a Masters in Music degree at University of Toronto and finally completed it after her second child was born.  Valerie has a fun personality and is able to relate and tailor the program to every learner and age group.  She motivates kids to be the best they can be.  Valerie is a teacher with the Halton District School Board and will be teaching grade 3 English and music this coming school year.  Her most recent musical interest is playing the drums and she performs with a band at JamSchool. Currently, Valerie lives in Guelph with her beautiful family of musicians (and a 5 year old soon-to-be musician).
